Compassionate Care

What to Expect

Compassionate, respectful health care by a qualified physician in a comfortable private setting. You are not required to pay out-of-pocket because Alberta Health covers the cost of our service. But you must bring the following items:

  • Alberta Health Care Card
  • Photo ID
  • A list of your current medications

The Process

  • Book your appointment by phone at (780) 220-5420
  • Arrive 15 minutes early to complete our medical questionnaire (first visit only)
  • Consult with the doctor
  • Visit with our Patient Educator

On your first visit our friendly staff will check your ID and give you our standard information package and questionnaire. The questionnaire is 100% confidential with easy-to-answer questions about your condition. It speeds up your consultation and helps us assess your needs.

One of our physicians will:

  • Review your medical history
  • Perform a physical examination
  • Discuss the benefits of cannabis in treating your condition
  • Recommend a treatment plan.

Following your examination we’ll help you select the licensed cannabis producer that best meets your needs, get you enrolled, and make sure you have all the necessary information. The entire process — in and out — takes about one (1) hour. You don’t need a referral from your regular doctor but it’s recommended for patients receiving palliative care. You can still make an appointment with us even if you don’t have a regular doctor or referral.

Follow-up Visits

A follow-up visit will be scheduled to review your progress because cannabis is still regulated as a narcotic, the College of Physicians And Surgeons of Alberta requires a follow-up visit every three (3) months. We make your follow up visits easier by sending you a friendly reminder. If you need another appointment before your next visit, just let us know, we’ll be happy to see you.

Please note: we do not dispense cannabis nor do we have or keep cannabis products on-site.
